January 2023
Last month we announced a hold on sample registrations through January 2023 during our transition to DataCite infrastructure. We are currently in the process of finalizing our membership with DataCite. In the meantime, we are pleased to announce SESAR is resuming sample registrations to avoid delays and disruptions in our services.
What does this mean for users?
Samples registered during this period are given ‘reserved’ IGSNs following the previous format. These numbers cannot be registered by any other user and remain unique to the sample. Users can still edit or add sample metadata and view the sample landing pages in SESAR. However, the IGSNs of these samples will not resolve automatically to their landing pages.
SESAR will automatically begin registering the reserved IGSNs to DataCite once the membership procedure is finalized. We expect this process to start in mid-February and will notify our users when it is complete.
As a reminder, new samples will follow the DOI format and be assigned a new prefix. We will provide users with the new IGSN prefix when we notify them of the registration of reserved IGSNs. For more information, please see our December newsletter.
